Cold drink chillin' in my right hand...

I think that my friends and I are already getting excited about our tailgate time with Kenny next year. Or between my brother who lives in Miami, my trip to Sunny California a few weeks ago and many discussions with my new-found Caribbean friend, I just have fruity rum drinks on the mind. Anyhoo, here are some great sweet concoctions if you'd like to pretend that wherever you're freezing your ass off is a little bit of paradise.

I have to start practicing now to get ready for the crazy cookouts Kayla and I are already planning for next summer!

Rum Runner

1 oz light rum
1/2 oz blackberry brandy
1/2 oz banana liqueur
1/2 oz grenadine syrup
1/4 oz Rose's® lime juice
1 splash pineapple juice
1 splash sweet and sour mix
1/4 oz 151 proof rum
Blend at high speed until smooth. Float 1/4 oz 151 proof rum as an optional extra. Garnish with a lime wheel and cherry. Enjoy!
(Surprisingly, only 232 calories each!)

Click here for the recipe for the infamous Cruzan Confusion. They are best when blended with ice in the blender like a big booze slushie.

Actually, my pals over at Cruzan have updated their recipe page, and there are tons of great recipes to have some tropical fun with rum. Go check it out.

I've heard this drink called lots of names, but it's always a crowd favorite:
1 1/2 oz. Coconut rum
1 oz. vodka
1 oz blue curacao
1 oz pineapple juice
Splash of Sprite

Pour all this stuff over ice and stir it up. Drink, and be careful.

You'll remember while I was in California I fell in love with frozen mango margaritas. Here's how you make a pitcher of those:

1 1/4 cups of cubed Mango
6 oz. Tequila
6 oz. Sour Mix
2 oz. Triple Sec
ice
Into your blender, pour in the liquids, then the cubed mango. Blend for 10-15 seconds. Now add the ice and blend for another 30+ seconds. For extra kicks, add a piece of payaya.

But usually on any given night, you'll find me sitting at the bar drinking a little coconut rum and diet coke with a lime. Or sometimes it's whiskey and diet coke. Pretty simple, but tried and true. And can you believe there's a recipe on the Internet for that, just in case you can't figure it out?
