Does anybody read these?

Updates

I realized that I have not done a very good job keep everyone updated lately. I am just wrapping up my super-busy time at work. Now, I am just back to regular busy :)

At the beginning of May, Nashville had a massive flood. I got out in flood waters for a minute before I realized how bad it was, but aside from my front license plate holder getting ripped off my bumper, I am fine. My car is fine. My house is fine, and I am alive.

I wish I could say that for everyone. A lot of people have lost everything. But we're a tough city, and we're helping everyone out. One of my coworkers is homeless right now, and I've really been trying to help her. Not to mention that I have a good friend who still has no idea where she's going to live. She had insurance, but it seems scary to build in the exact same place, even though they say this was a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

So, we are all OK. We are helping everyone out. White, black, hispanic, whatever, if you need help you are getting it. I'm biting my tongue on other things I want to say. If I ever decide to stop being a nice person and worrying about other people's feelings, it's going to be a long day. Just warning you all now, but if it hasn't happened in 34 years, I doubt that it's happening anytime soon.

I had a birthday. It was OK. Not too much fun getting older.

The house is coming along. I have conquered most of the boxes downstairs, although I still have most of my belongings in storage. I got a really good deal on a couch although I am not sure how my living room furniture will fit in my rather large living room. We'll get there eventually. I think I might "hire" my mom to help get everything in order. Still some loose ends to tie up, but we're getting there.

I stayed up too late reading my book club book last night, and I am really tired. It's going to be a long day.

I have been trying to update the recipe blog, but I still have catching up to do. It'll get there eventually.
