A little pro bono PR work...
Recently I heard about Kenny Chesney serving as honorary chair for the capital campaign for a Nashville-area domestic violence shelter. What a great cause, and what a great PR opportunity for Kenny AND the Shelter. Of course, no one seemed to be promoting it. So, I was talking to a friend and she pointed out to me that the Nashville music scene folks always like a good tip and don't particularly care where it comes from. So, I decided to make a few calls and jot off a few emails, and I got some ink for this great project.Nashville Kat had this to say in her column today:
Kenny Chesney’s the honorary chair for BRIDGES of Williamson County to raise money for a new domestic violence shelter & if you’d like to help, call 800-799 SAFE.
I just thought it was the least I could do. As someone working in nonprofit fundraising and PR I know there's no point in getting someone HUGE like that to sign on if no one cares. And I do care. Domestic violence has always been one of my hot-button issues. And, of course, I think Kenny needs a little infusion of good PR lately so that people will love him as much as I do.
